5 Jobs that will thrive despite AI
In this post, we talked about 5 jobs that will soon become obsolete due to advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. Now, we will be highlighting 5 jobs that will still thrive despite the rise of AI and automation. Before jumping right in, I’d like you to note the following important points.
AI will not just take up every job, it will rather replace those jobs that require repetitive tasks like couriers, store cashiers and factory workers – these jobs that require you to do the same thing over and over and over.
On the other hand, jobs that require critical thinking, human interaction and empathy like creative writers and clergy men are less likely to be replaced by AI.

Creative jobs e.g. architects, writers, graphic designers
5 Jobs that will thrive despite AI – creatives like photographers
Jobs that require creativity and critical thinking cannot be easily replaced by AI. These include architects, writers, graphic designers, photographers and others. They won’t be replaced because they require that human touch, that uniqueness, that authenticity, which AI is presently unable to give.
5 Jobs that will thrive despite AI – Architect
AI would still have roles to play in these creative jobs though, for instance, in architecture, when the architect understands the client’s needs, he/she can use AI tools to draft and deliver the creatively tailored design to the client.
Psychologists and therapists
A survey done by the American Psychology Association (APA) as far back as 2004 reveals that nearly half of American households have had to seek mental health treatment in the course of the year and guess what, this number would have been more if not for the cost of mental healthcare and lack of insurance!
5 Jobs that will thrive despite AI – Psychologists and therapists
AI will probably not be replacing psychologists and therapists anytime soon because smart as they may be, they lack the emotional intelligence, compassion and ability to understand the complex human mind – the emotions, fears, social skills, etc. So, machines can’t tailor an approach to an individual’s situation to connect with them on an emotional level and help them heal/manage their emotions better.
Machine learning experts
5 Jobs that will thrive despite AI – Machine learning experts
Machine learning is the process of learning from data over time, it is the foundation of AI and cannot be replaced by it. There’ll always be need for someone to program AI on what data to look for, how to make sense of it and how to use to generate the results we need. Machine learning experts are not likely to lose their jobs to AI anytime soon.
Robot manufacturers & maintainers
With the advancement of AI and automation, there’ll be an increased demand for robots. In fact, by 2030 as many 800 million workers globally would lose their jobs to robots. It is therefore not hard to guess that those who make and maintain these AI enabled robots would very much be in business as AI takes over other jobs.

You may say that even robot building will be done by other robots, true, but there will always be need for someone to build the robots that will build other robots. There’ll also be need for those who will maintain the robots; design upgrades for them, updates etc.
5 Jobs that will thrive despite AI – Event planners
While AI can no doubt help in enhancing event planning, event planners can’t be easily replaced by AI. This is because it involves a great deal of creativity, coordination, organizational skills and people skills which you can’t get from a machine as at yet.
Conclusion of 5 Jobs that will thrive despite AI
As I said in the previous post “Shocker! These 5 jobs will soon be replaced by AI”, your best bet is to equip yourself with necessary skills that will keep you relevant even when robots are taking over other jobs.
